Jyoti Bhansali
Jyoti Bhansali was born in Mumbai in 1957. She did her schooling from Presentation Convent High School, Delhi where she studied English mainly from Irish nuns. Her father and grandfather were professors of Physics in Delhi University. Her grandfather later became the Chairman of University Grants Commission and was the recipient of the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan for his contributions to education.Along with her post graduate degree in English, Jyoti Bhansali also has degrees in Bachelor of Education, and Master of Education where she came second in Delhi University.Jyoti Bhansali joined the teaching community in 1985. She joined Delhi Public School, Vasant Vihar as an English teacher and continued to work there for twenty years. Her hard work and dedication brought her many laurels. She was the only teacher from India (along with two students) to be selected to represent the country in New Zealand at their festivities at the turn of the century in 2000 where teachers from 175 countries of the world had been invited. She was also sent to Japan on an exchange programme along with the Headmistress of the school and eight students.After that she headed the primary wing of Apeejay School, Saket for two years where she brought in many reforms in the school curriculum.At present she is teaching English in Delhi Public School International.Her interest in writing has led her to co-author a book on science experiments named ‘Fun and Science at Home’ along with Dr. L. S. Kothari, eminent physicist, Delhi University. Later she co-authored the two-series article titled ‘Father of Nuclear Energy – Lord Ernest Rutherford’ published in ‘School Science’ in its editions of December 1998 and March 1999.
