Elizabeth Guy's family moved to Stalling Busk, a tiny hamlet in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire when she was ten years old. Her parents, through their smallholding, lived "the good life", with a jersey cow which yielded rich milk, always a pig in the barn for homemade bacon, sausages and meat and of course a potato patch. After moving back to Wensleydale following University and a spell in London, Elizabeth opened Humble Pie, a delicatessen & fresh food takeaway. Well before it became popular and before the advent of Farmer's markets, it was important to her to use local ingredients whenever possible. In June 2006, Elizabeth filmed a series of ten cookery demonstrations as part of BBC1's "Countryfile - The Summer Diaries". She lives in Askrigg, Wensleydale, with her three daughters and her partner Bruce, a farmer.
