Jules Verne
Jules Verne (1828-1905) was a French author who helped pioneer the science fiction genre. He is best known for his novels Journey to the Centre of the Earth, From the Earth to the Moon, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Around the World in 80 Days and The Mysterious Island. Verne wrote about space, air and underwater travel before navigable aircraft and practical submarines were invented and any space travel had been devised. He is the second most translated author of all time, behind Agatha Christie and considered one of the 'Fathers of Science Fiction' along with H. G Wells.
