June Skinner Sawyers
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, June Skinner Sawyers has written and lectured extensively on Scotland. Her father, a carpenter, used to run his own carpentry business on Charlotte Street in the heart of Glasgow; her mother used to work at Gray, Dunn’s, the famous biscuit factory, also in Glasgow. She has written or edited eighteen books, many with a Scottish or Celtic theme, including Maverick Guide to Scotland, The Scottish Bed & Breakfast Book, Celtic Music, The Road North: 300 Years of Classic Scottish Travel Writing, and Dreams of Elsewhere: The Selected Travel Writings of Robert Louis Stevenson. She writes a travel book column, “The Resourceful Traveler,” for the Chicago Tribune.
