Begum Rokheya Sakhawat Hossain

Rokheya was a pioneer in women's rights and education in pre-partition Bengal who, among other achievements, founded a number of schools for Muslim girls. Herself home-schooled as a child, she became a well-known and widely published writer in Bengali. Sultana's Dream was the first story that she wrote in English, which she learned from her brothers and husband.
