Purple Class are back with four more entertaining stories that highlight the funny side of primary school life. There is never a dull moment when Jamal, Shea, Leon, Yasmin, Jodie and the others are involved, and the exasperated Mr Wellington is in charge.

In 'The Half-Eaten Sweater', a former international cricketer visits to give the children some coaching in the game, but can Jamal behave himself well enough to be allowed to take part? 'The Non-Stop Fundraising Day' finds Jamal and Shea being sponsored to keep silent for half an hour. Jodie is sure there is a werewolf stealing underwear at the outdoor centre Purple Class are staying at in 'The Underwear Wolf'. And in 'The Double-Chocolate Cake' Mr Wellington receives a birthday surprise from his class.

Brilliantly written, Purple Class are a William and the Outlaws for today's multicultural society.

For any child or adult familiar with the workings of primary schools, these stories will instantly seem familiar… I would imagine that this book is most likely to be at home with children in Years two to four, although its humour can be enjoyed by younger or older children too. - Books for Keeps

A good addition to primary school library shelves. - School Librarian

What is so wonderful about these stories is that they do truly reflect a typical inner city classroom. Lots of different cultures are represented without relying on stereotypes and the author does seem to really understand the minds of children in Year 5. He totally appreciates the humour of this particular age group - www.writeaway.org.uk
