From Coffee to Nets, from Running to Xmas, this photographic alphabet celebrates everything Ethiopians love best about their country. Set in north-east Africa, Ethiopia has a long, rich history going back many thousands of years. It is inhabited by a variety of ethnic groups, with Christianity and Islam the main religions. Here are glimpses into Ethiopian houses, food, religion, clothes, hairstyles, animals, music - making the perfect introduction to a country still unfamiliar to many people.

The text and photographs are by a group of young photographers in Ethiopia whose work is supported by the UK aid agency CAFOD, the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development.

Their photographs are vibrant, rich in content and quality. Their choices of which aspects of Ethiopia to show give us a meaningful snapshot of their cultural heritage and current context. The text is well-written, accessible and clearly linked to the photographs. - Books for Keeps

C is for Coffee. Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee and it is our biggest export. To make this wonderful drink, we roast coffee beans in a pan and pound them to a powder. Then we add boiling water to the powder in a pot and let it stand for a while before pouring out the coffee. This is when we relax and exchange ideas!
