Freya has an appetite as fine as can be – until one day she declares, "Your dhal and rice are just not nice." She spurns baked beans, sausages, and soon she's very thin indeed. Mum, in despair, phones Grandma Clare. "We'll sort her," says Grandma, "the fussy little beast." So off Freya goes for a fabulous feast – and a lesson she will never forget.

Freya's mum had cooked a dish of dhal and jasmine rice.

Baby Ravi ate two bowls, he liked a bit of spice.

Ravi banged the table-top, but Freya sulked and glared.

"Your dhal and rice are just not nice," she suddenly declared.

When fussy Freya won’t eat her dinner,

her mum and dad are in despair –

but Grandma Clare has a brilliant idea

for a fabulous feast to get

Freya eating again...

“For children who like their food familiar

and their rhymes revolting.”

Sunday Times Culture Supplement

Wonderfully quirky. The rhyming text is funny, bouncy and quite entertaining. The book is engaging and very fun to read aloud. The illustrations add extra humour. Freya is marvellously illustrated and her personality just leaps off the page, I loved all the little details of the book. A must read for anyone who has ever come across a picky eater!
