The pictures show the gardens in the most beautiful light. - Museum of Garden History magazine
Russell Page may belong to an earlier generation of designers, but his work and ideas remail fresh and relevant to gardeners and designers today. This book is a handsome reminder of his achievements and a valuable archive in its own right. - Professional Gardener
A beautifully illustrated book. - Garden
A welcome reissue. The gardens, many in continental Europe and the US, are/ were of powerful simplicity and sophisitication and are well served by the photography and text. - Ham & High
Since many of Page's gardens gardens have perished, the book is not a complete catalogue, nor is it a biography, but it does provide a detailed account of Page's life and work, presenting where possible, the best and most representative of the hundreds of gardens he created. The brief chronology, extensive index and comprehensive acknowledgements page would make this a useful tool for scholars, though it's the photographs themselves that prove the greatest tribute to this great designer. - Art Book
